We jetted off to Guangzhou on the last couple days of august 2010. I left on a jet plane with a heavy heart; I was thrown with a piece of very awful news. All my anticipation and excitement to jetting off to a foreign land for a rewarding and fruitful shopping trip had vanished into the thin air instantaneously. Whatsoever is the case, eventually, I could not afford to let our tickets goes down the drain, so we took off to Guangzhou and I tried to be happy, because life goes on. So, why not live it with a smile rather than frowning. I had a really fruitful shopping trip there; the clothes, shoes and many others are so crazily cheap! It’s even cheaper than bkk! Quality of the apparels and footwear apparently are better too! The only downside is the residents there are unhelpful, cunning, arrogant and rude! So, we always have to be on guards.
Took tiger airway to guangzhou. We booked the tickets a month before our departure date, therefore, the tickets cost more. It was about $400/pax.
We had our first meal at the cafe opposite our hotel. This meal cost us about sgd5 only! We stayed at yong feng hotel, it cost us about $35/night but do not hold too much expectation on a 2 stars hotel.
We took very little pictures as we did not want to be seen as a tourist, as pick-pockets and robbers target more on the tourists. Hence, we hardly had any tourist kind of pictures taken over at Guangzhou.
Dinner was settled at a hotel restaurant in shangxiajiu district. This meal cost us about sgd14 only!
Tried their bubble tea! It tastes like koi's hazelnut milk tea! but, a tad sweet! But, their pearls are nothing like koi's, koi's miles better than it!
Our loots for the first day. 95% are mine :X
Anyway, like I've said shopping is cheap and splendid, let me elaborate on why is that so... From the above picture of the foot wears we have got, none of it cost us more than sgd11, majority of its price ranged from sgd 2-6. The two flip flops cost me sgd2 each, one of which is for mum. The two pair of wedges (blue and mixture of grey, purple and black) cost me about sgd5 each, I gotta them for my aunt. I totally digs the pair with mixture of grey, purple and black but there wasn't any smaller sizes left :( I got the adidas sport shoes for sgd10 only!
I would love to be flight over anytime for another round of fruitful shopping spree!
Anyway, here is the list of shopping areas that are worth visiting:
1. Shi pai dong road (石牌东路)
2. Shang xia jiu pedestrian street (上下九商业步行街)
3. Zhuang yuan fang alley (状元坊)
4. guangzhou railway station (广州火车站)

Hi Sylvia,
The hotel is approx. 15mins walking distance to the gan ding station. They do not have a website, so can't book it online. I suppose they only take walk-in, which is how I got the room, as I was assured by my gf that the hotel will not be fully booked, so I went ahead and tried my luck.
